River Run for the Roots
River Run for the Roots is our annual 5K run/walk to benefit the Common Roots Foundation. The scenic course winds through the village of South Glens Falls and along the Betar Byway by the Hudson River.
Registration is $30 before June 24; $35 after June 24. The first 200 registrants get a t-shirt, so register early! There’s also a Stroller division. After the race, join us for raffles, prizes, and post-race festivities at Common Roots.
The race is a fundraiser for the Common Roots Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that aims to sustain and improve the quality of life in northeastern New York. The Foundation supports local efforts in the areas of community wellness, environmental stewardship, and assisting those in times of need.
Not a runner? No problem! New this year, our free Couch to 5K Program will offer incremental runs on Thursday nights in June along the Betar Byway in preparation for the River Run 5K. Additionally, a rotating selection of speakers, coaches and nutritionists will offer tips and guided stretching. Learn more about the program.
We need volunteers! Sign up to help out on race day and get a free beer! Various tasks are available, from directing runners to offering water and more.
